I had so much fun participating in the Palouse Plein Air Competition this September in Moscow, Idaho!
I spent one week painting around the Palouse area where I live, and then submitted three paintings into the competition. Participating in this event really made me realize a love of painting plein air!! I want to continue painting outdoors, when the weather isn’t freezing!
My first painting was outside of the Palouse Trading warehouse in Palouse, WA. I did a project for them in early September at their warehouse, so I felt this was a perfect location for my first plein air! It was a quick painting, I worked until the evening, so had only an hour of sunlight. If you’re interested in learning more about Palouse Trading, visit them here: http://www.palousebrand.com/
The second painting I completed was of my favorite coffeeshop, Roost here in Pullman, WA. They are a small rustic coffeeshop with great coffee, homemade food and flavored syrups. I am a huge coffee lover, so this was for sure my ideal painting. It took about 3 hours, the weather was beautiful and the leaves had just started to fall. This artwork won the City of Moscow Purchase Award too! I am thankful for the opportunity for the City of Moscow, Id to own a piece of my artwork and to receive this award. https://www.facebook.com/RoostCoffeePullman
My final painting was done at the Architects of Air Pentalum Exhibit that the Washington State University Student Entertainment Board brought to campus. These are inflatable structures of light that you can walk through. They are just simply amazing! http://www.architects-of-air.com/
